…and still we rise. Adapting to change is our challenge in the 4th quarter of our lives. You’ve got this.

And still we rise! Beautiful poem. Thank you for reading, and I hope you are well.

I love the direction you’ve taken! Honoring yourself by continuing to Wright and taking care of your hubby at the same time. You’ve had a hell of a ride and you’re still on it! You never know where things are gonna go from here!

You are brave and amazing . I’ll go wherever to read your thoughts. It’s an honor to know you and a pleasure to read you. Love your clarity.

I just found you and was so excited bc you are my "late boomer" gen. It is so much different than what I call regular boomers. I saw your substack description and was, "YES, finally a friend!" and then I read this post w trepidation bc I thought it would be similar to something I wrote to readers of my newspaper column in 2022... A real goodbye. I'm SO thrilled it isn't. And I feel all your pain in the freelance space. Can't wait to read what you write here as a subscriber.

Welcome kindred spirit.

I look forward to continuing to read your work. And, for the record, I was one of the editors who outvoted Julie. But you are correct that she's a dream editor/boss.

I’m glad you’ll still be writing. Sounds like a decision that supports what you need in this chapter of your life.

Thank you for writing this and sharing your thoughts, which echo mine so very strongly. It's heartening to know I'm not alone in pulling back from pitching, and for so many of the same reasons you've stated. Life's too short and I'm 64 and I'm really glad I've found Substack, and that you have, too.

Very interested to keep reading your writing here as you navigate to new directions...being a care giver can get depleting so I am glad you are thinking through things now, the way you want them to be later...xo
